Overview: This qualification prepares learners to become professional plumbers capable of installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing water supply, drainage, sewerage, and rainwater systems.
 
Entry Requirements:
  • NQF Level 3 qualification, equivalent to N2 in Engineering Maths, Science, and Building Drawings.

 
Qualification Structure:
  1. Knowledge Modules (100 Credits):

    • Health, safety, quality, and legislation (3 credits)

    • Energy efficiency and ethics (5 credits)

    • Tools, equipment, and site practice (3 credits)

    • Water and drainage theory (8 credits)

    • Sanitary ware and hot/cold water systems (22 credits)

  2. Practical Skill Modules (130 Credits):

    • Installation, maintenance, and testing of soil, waste, vent systems, and sanitary ware.

    • Work with cold, hot, and rainwater systems.

  3. Work Experience Modules (130 Credits):

    • Real-world application of plumbing processes and procedures.

 
How to Qualify:
  • Enroll in the listed trade.

  • Complete all knowledge, practical, and work experience modules.

  • Submit a Portfolio of Evidence (PoE) for assessment.

  • Pass the Trade Test.

 
Assessment and Certification:
  • Trade Test Certificate issued by QCTO upon successful completion.

  • Duration: 3 years.
